Easter festivities (1 April 2023)

A week before Easter, we prepared a programme for visitors focused on presenting the differences in celebrating Easter in the Czech Republic and Iceland. The programme was designed to show local customs and the main character of these festivities. While in our country both Christian and pagan traditions are observed, in Iceland this holiday is more civil. People visit each other's families, relax and spend time in nature. Children are given decorated chocolate eggs filled with other sweets. The size and weight of the eggs, weighing about half a kilo, are particularly interesting. Unlike Czech and Moravian traditions, they do not dye or decorate the Easter eggs. The children only receive these large chocolate eggs.
